Two people born on the same day,
One lives to a ripe old age of 98,
The other’s life ends abruptly at 24.
Teach me Lord the meaning of life.
Someone amasses houses, gold, costly jewelry and varieties of cars,
Yet when he dies, nothing he acquired,
Whether by sweat and hard work,
Or by fraud and forgery, goes with him.
Teach me Lord the meaning of life.
He is liked in the North, famous in the South,
He has friends in the city, buddies in the countryside,
Yet he doesn’t know the Friend that sticks closer than a brother.
Teach me Lord the meaning of life.
Teach me the meaning of life,
So I don’t pass through life,
Without knowing and living for
The One whose name and essence is Life.
