Draw Near

I am near,
But you are far.
Don’t be far,
When I want you to be near.

I come near to speak to you,
I come near to reveal my glory and greatness,
I come near because you are important to me,
I come near just to be near to you.

Don’t be far,
When I am near,
Don’t be far,
When I want you to be near.

You don’t need money to come near,
Even if you lack social graces and titles, you can come near.
You don’t need to be perfect to come near,
Even if you are the worst of the worst, you can come near.

Inspiration comes as you draw near,
Goodness and mercy begin to follow you,
Joy, peace and eternal pleasures surround you,
Your petitions are made known, your cries heard, your needs met,
Why then won’t you draw near?

I am a God who is near,
I am a God who is not far off,
I am a God who longs for you,
Don’t be far, don’t stand afar off,
When I want you to be near.
