In a couple of days, we will come to the end of November and be left with just one more month to close the curtains of 2014. A lot has been said by different people of the months of September to December. Some refer to these months as the ‘…mber’ months; a period when Satan is on the rampage and evil abounds. The result is that many people Christians inclusive, approach the last four months of the year with a lot of fear and apprehension. Some even become too scared to travel or move around during this period of the year.
One Bible scholar has said that the phrases “Fear not” and “do not be afraid” appear 107 times in the Old Testament and 42 times in the New Testament. Anything mentioned so frequently in the Bible is clearly something God wants us to take heed to. With everything happening in our world today, God now more than ever before is telling His children “FEAR NOT!”
Psalm 91 the popular protection Psalm, refers to God as The Most High, The Almighty, My Refuge, My Fortress; my place of safety and protection. The One in whom we place our trust. Protection is all about God. He has walls, banners, shields, wings and uncountable angels of protection. When you are in a difficult situation, boldly declare that God is your Refuge and your Fortress and immediatedly He will surround you with a hedge of protection.
Are you stressed out? Is there danger lurking around you? Are you in a terrible situation? Does it appear like everything around you is crumbling? You can declare, “Lord, You are my Refuge, You are my Fortress, You are my God in whom I trust”, and the mighty hands of God will surround you and protect you, the angels of God will arise to defend you.
As a child of God, your life is hid in Christ, the Rock of Ages; the Rock that is higher than I, the Rock that never fails, the Rock no evil arrow can penetrate, the One sure Rock to stand on. Placing your security in God is like building the foundation of your house on solid rock. When the wind, waves, calamites and problems of life come, you will remain standing.
There is no security system or gadget, no police force, no armed guard, or government policy that can keep you 100 per cent safe or guarantee that all will be well with you. True security comes from God.
As the year draws to an end and people start getting agitated, fearful and frightened, stand on the Rock of Ages and no evil will befall you. Stand on this strong, enduring, solid Rock and you will enjoy peace and safety. Fear not, your God is alive and with you. Fear not, He will protect you because you acknowledge His name. Fear not, He will answer you when you call upon Him. Fear not, He will be with you in trouble. Fear not, He will deliver you and honour you. Fear not, His plans for you are plans for good and not for evil; plans to bring you safely to the end of this year and victoriously into the New Year. Fear not, you can count on God anytime, any day. FEAR NOT!
