12 Gifts of Christmas

Christmas carols are great and an interesting way to spend your Christmas. Christmas decorations add beauty and colour to the season. Christmas gatherings bring fun and laughter. But the best part of Christmas is the story and message behind the season. Twelve special things happened when Jesus was born. I pray these 12 things become a part of our lives not just this season but for every season of life.

1)DIVINE DIRECTION. Joseph would have made a costly mistake if God didn’t direct Joseph on what step to take concerning Mary’s pregnancy (Matthew 1:18-24). God will give you divine direction this season that will keep you from error and from making decisions you could live to regret.

2)ANGELIC VISITATION. An angel spoke to Joseph about what to do concerning Jesus (Matthew 1:20, Matthew 2:13, 19). An angel brought good news to Mary that she had found favour with God (Luke 1:26-35). An angel appeared to shepherds as they watched their flock (Luke 2:8-10). This season angels will minister and attend to you. Angels will bring special blessings your way.

3)THE PRESENCE OF GOD. Isaiah prophesised many years ago before the birth of Christ that “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14). True to God’s Word, Jesus was born and called Immanuel which means God with us. You shall not go through life on your own, Immanuel will be with you. The presence of God will always be with you to shield and protect you from evil and to give you peace and rest.

4)A RISING STAR. Wise men saw the star of Jesus and came looking for Him (Matthew 2:1-2). The star of your life will never lose its brightness and glory. Your star will announce your gifts, skills and potentials and wise; notable and important people from far and wide, from the North, South, East, West and beyond will come looking for you.

5)YOUR ENEMIES WILL WAIT IN VAIN. King Herod was waiting for the wise men to come back and tell him where Jesus was so he could go there and kill him but the wise men never returned to Herod with this information (Matthew 2:7-12). Go will make every enemy of your soul and destiny that is waiting to get information they can use to destroy you to wait in vain.

6)THE IMPOSSIBLE WILL BE MADE POSSIBLE. Mary was told that the power of the Most High would overshadow her and that she though a virgin, would give birth to a son (Luke 1:34-35). This season the power of God will overshadow you and what people have told you is impossible, God will make possible for you. What has been impossible for you to achieve since the year began or for some years now, the power of God will overshadow you and make possible.

7)GOOD NEWS. Mary received good news. She was told that her elderly cousin Elizabeth who was said to be barren was now six months pregnant. Mary was also told that she had found favour with God and would give birth to a son to be called JESUS (Luke 1:26-36). This season, good news is coming your way. The God of Good Tidings, will keep tales of woe, sorrowful and negative news away from you. You will receive good news about yourself and family members that will make you dance and leap for joy.

8)DIVINE SELECTION. Mary was not the only lady in Nazareth but she was the only one God chose to be the mother of Jesus. This season, God will select you out of crowds of people for a special blessing.

9)A NEW SONG. After God remembered and visited Mary, she sang a new song. She praised God in a way she had never done before (Luke 1:46-55). The Lord will remember you this season, the Lord will visit you and you will sing new songs of praise. You will magnify and exalt God in a way you have never done before because the arm of God will do great things in your life.

10)SOMETHING GREAT FROM SOMETHING SMALL. Jesus was born in Bethlehem (Luke 2:4-6). Micah 5:2 tells us that Bethlehem is the smallest among the clans or towns of Judah, yet that was the town our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was born. God knows how to bring something great from something small; from something people look down on and consider insignificant. Do you have a small idea, ministry, business or family? Is the money in your hand or account so small? Are you from a small, insignificant minority group? This season, the light of God will shine on everything small in your life and it will be transformed into something truly great.

11)YOU SHALL SEE THEM NO MORE. Joseph was told that “…those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead” (Matthew 2:19-20). Those who have been opposing you, attacking you, planning evil for you, fighting and contending against you and trying to cut short your life and destiny will experience the judgement of God this season. You will search for your enemies but will not find them for the whirlwind of God will scatter them and carry them away.

12)DIVINE STRENGTH TO FULFILL YOUR DIVINE MANDATE/PURPOSE. In the account of the birth of Jesus, repeatedly we are told that events that transpired were all in fulfillment of what God has said through his prophets (Matthew 2:15, 17-18, 23). Jesus fulfilled everything that had been spoken about Him, everything God had planned for Him. You shall not live a wasted life; your destiny shall not be diverted or truncated. God will fill you with divine strength to fulfil His purpose for your life. You will be who God has destined you to be, you will accomplish all that God has purposed for you in Jesus mighty name. AMEN!
