LORD, GRANT ME WISDOM

Proverbs 4:7-8 tells us that wisdom is supreme, wisdom is the principal thing and we should do everything possible to get wisdom. To say that wisdom is the principal thing, it means that wisdom is first in order of importance of things to have. Wisdom should top our list of things to get this year. I pray that this year in all our endeavours, God will fill us with divine wisdom.

In Daniel 2:20-23, Daniel spoke about the infinite wisdom of God and how God had filled him with wisdom. Divine wisdom brought blessings an honour to Daniel. Using the life of Daniel, we are going to discover and then pray the rich benefits of wisdom into our lives.

WISDOM PRESERVES THE LIFE OF ITS POSSESSOR (ECCLESIASTES 7:12)

In Daniel 2:12, King Nebuchadnezzar ordered the execution of all the wise men in Babylon because they couldn’t tell him his dream or the interpretation of his dream. Daniel on the other hand was spared. His life was not cut short because he had the wisdom of God to know the king’s dream and the interpretation of the dream. Calamity overtook the wise men of Babylon, death knocked on their doors, but in the midst of all of this, Daniel was at ease without fear of harm because he had something they didn’t have. He had divine wisdom.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please make me a possessor of divine wisdom. Fill me with divine wisdom so that I can escape every snare of death, every evil death order released from the kingdom of darkness. O Lord, Let your wisdom help me avoid cars, buses, planes, buildings and places marked out for death.

Father, no matter the calamity, problems and tragedies around me, let your wisdom make me live in safety without fear of death or disaster.

DIVINE WISDOM BRINGS HONOUR AND PROMOTION (PROVERBS 4:7-8)

In Daniel 2:48, after Daniel told the king his dream and the interpretation, the king promoted Daniel; he placed Daniel in a high position and lavished gifts on him. There was progress in Daniel’s life. Daniel wasn’t stagnant because he had divine wisdom.

PRAYER POINT

O Lord, please fill me with divine wisdom and let you wisdom bring promotion to my life this year.  Let your wisdom remove every trace of stagnation and lack of progress in my life.

DIVINE WISDOM MAKES YOU RELEVANT AND SOUGHT AFTER

Because Daniel possessed the wisdom of God, Daniel was able to add value to king Nebuchadnezzar and the kingdom of Babylon. Daniel brought in a much needed skill that was lacking in the wise men of Babylon. The wisdom of God distinguished Daniel from all the other wise men of God.

PRAYER POINT

Father, the wisdom that makes a man relevant and sought after, please bestow on me. The wisdom that makes a man add value wherever he is placed, Lord fill my life with this wisdom.

DIVINE WISDOM BRINGS SOLUTIONS TO TROUBLES AND PROBLEMS OF LIFE (ECCLESIASTES 9:13-15).

There was a problem in Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that so troubled his mind. King Nebuchadnezzar was confused and troubled and he needed direction on how to handle the dream (Daniel 2:1-3). No magician, enchanter, astrologer or wise man could do anything about the thing that troubled the king. Until Daniel stepped into the scene and through the wisdom of God, spoke words that lifted the burden that was weighing the king down. There are problems all around us, challenges here and there. Without divine wisdom, such problems can remain year in year out. Divine wisdom ended the problem of the king.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please fill me with divine wisdom and make me a vessel you can use to bring solutions to the problems weighing people down, the problems all around. The wisdom that brings an end to problems, Lord fill me with this wisdom so that this year, I will see the end of every problem that has been troubling me, my family, church and nation.

WISDOM DELIVERS YOU FROM PURPOSELESS AND FRUITLESS ACTIVITIES (EPHESIANS 5:15-17).

The astrologers, magicians, enchanters, diviners and sorcerers of Babylon were people who devoted a great deal of their time to occultism, sorcery and magic, casting spells, soothsaying, fortunetelling, interpreting omens, calling up the dead, prophesying by the stars, making predictions based on the moon, making their children pass through fire, bowing down to sun, moons, stars and all the host of heaven (Deuteronomy 18:9-11, Isaiah 47:13-15, Jeremiah 8:2). But none of these activities were able to save them from the king’s decree of death because they were all completely pointless activities. It was then they discovered their error that they had been wasting so much of their time on things that lacked the power to save and deliver them. Daniel a man of wisdom on the other hand, spent his own time wisely. He devoted his time to knowing and being with God (Daniel 6:10).

PRAYER POINT

Father, remove every form of folly from me. Fill me with divine wisdom and deliver me from purposeless living. Help me O Lord not to waste my life and time on activities that will take me away from you and shipwreck my destiny and your purpose for my life.

KNOWING THE SOURCE OF WISDOM MAKES YOU BOLD AND CONFIDENT (ECCLESIASTES 8:1).

In the face of a harsh decree being given to execute anyone that couldn’t interpret the king’s dream, Daniel could boldly and confidently approach the king and ask him to give him some time to interpret his dream (Daniel 2:14-16). Daniel knew that the wisdom to know and interpret the king’s dream could come from only one person – GOD. Because he knew his God, Daniel was confident that the source of wisdom would unlock the mystery behind the king’s dream to him. If Daniel didn’t have a close personal relationship with God, if Daniel didn’t know the source and giver of wisdom, he would have been troubled, shaking, fretting and looking for somewhere to run to and hide. The more we know God, the more we are full of faith and free from fear.

PRAYER POINT

Father, help me to know you more this year. Help me to always spend time in your presence so I grow in my knowledge of you and in spiritual wisdom and understanding. Help me Father to fellowship intimately with You so I have a deep revelation of your greatness, power and majesty and I am not intimidated by situations that come my way. Help me to abide in your presence so I am filled with the fullness of God and my life is free from the spirit of fear. Thank you for hearing me and answering my prayers. Thank you for filling me with the wisdom of God that is able to save and deliver.
